WHAT WE DO

Military Lands and Cantonments Department is looking after the local governments in 44 Cantonments through Cantonment Boards and managing the defence lands all across the country through 11 Military Estate Circles. It is an attached department of the Ministry of Defence. Directorate of Military Lands and Cantonments provides advisory input on defence lands and local government matters in cantonments to the Federal Government (Ministry of Defence) and all related stakeholders i.e. Service Headquarters and other organizations under Ministry of Defence. Main functions of ML&C Deptt are: 

Defence Land Management

- Acquisitioning or requisitioning of property for Defence Services

- To defend litigation in the court of law to safeguard the interest of the Govt

Local self-government in Cantonment areas

- Efficient management of the Local Government in CBs

- Preparation of Annual Budget of CB and Revenue collection

- Building control, dev and maintenance of Parks, green belts and road infrastructure

- Provision of civic amenities

- Development works for cantonment residents

- Provision of health facilities

- Provision of education facilities

- Maintenance of hygiene and sanitation

- Conducting census in Cantonment areas

- Conducting a survey of the cantonment area
