Functions of ML&C Deptt. has multiplied in a complex challenging urban environment where training, research, critical and analytical thinking have gained importance. With over 5 Million population living in cantonments, the goodwill can only be earned on good governance, efficient working, cutting edge financial management and optimum use of IT. Officers and staff of ML&C Deptt. needs to be equipped with modern knowledge, techniques. international best practices.

Constitutionally, Civil Services Reforms of 1973 mandated a training Academy for all Occupational Groups of Civil Services for specialized training of its officers & officials. In 1977, Govt of Pakistan sanctioned Cantonment Institute of Management and Land Administration (CIMLA) as a specialized training institute of ML&C Deptt. In 2009, a State of Art building was constructed at Lahore for CIMLA. It is providing training to the officers and officials of ML&C Deptt. Specialized Training Programme for probationary officers of ML&C Dept is being run by the institute. Refresher courses for officers & officials are also being organized throughout the year. In 2019, all promotions of Cantonment Board’s employees have also been linked with the mandatory promotional courses being organized by CIMLA. Beside it, the institute also organizes lectures to inculcate motivation and team spirit among participants.

Functions

  • To conduct Specialized Training for probationary officers
  • To train officers and officials in Cantonment Administration, Land Management, Information Technology and other administration / managerial tasks
  • To evolve CIMLA as research and development (R&D) platform for ML&C Deptt

Campus Facilities

The Campus is spread over an area of 1.54 Acres. Following facilities are available in the campus: -

  • Class Rooms: Classrooms are equipped with multimedia and sound systems.
  • Hostels & Mess: The STP Programme run by CIMLA is residential and it is compulsory for all probationers to reside at the campus unless due authorization to stay out of campus has been obtained. A common mess is also operated for the probationers. 
  • Library: The Library has about 20,000 books. It also subscribes to a large number of local and foreign periodicals, magazines and newspapers. 
  • Computer LAB: The academy also provides computer Labs to enhance IT skills of probationary officers and allied staff. Hands on IT training are imparted in these LABs.
  • Audio / Visual Facilities: The academy is equipped with audio and visual recording facilities. These facilities are normally used to record important campus events and lectures delivered by eminent guest speakers.
  • Gym: A multipurpose state of the art gym facility is available for the under-training officers.
  • Transport: The Academy maintains a transport pool mainly for the purpose of meeting probationers’ requirements for local visits, Country Study Tours and for use by the visiting faculty.
  • Laundry: The Academy has an on-campus laundry facility.
